Transmission

Hello, I just recently bought a 69 f-100 with a 390 FE. The last owner did a lot of janky modifications to this truck, it was originally a manual and he converted it to a automatic. I was crawling underneath the truck to see where the tranny mounts to the engine and it looks like half of the bell housing bolts line up where it bolts on the engine and the other half do not bolts to anything. I’m trying to figure if this is normal or not. Help please

Welcome to FTE!

Would that be the top half bolted to the engine and the bottom half open? As in you can see the flywheel?

There is a dust cover bolted up to those as OEM:

Ford's original part number was C6AZ7986A. Scott Drake carries a repro of it under part number SDK-C6AZ-7986-A.
