When selecting trailer options you have gooseneck and 5th wheel option. What difference would one setting make over the other?
For what truck and what trailer???
Advantages and disadvantages to each.
If you buy a truck with the factory prep for 5th wheel, it will have provisions for both.
Okay, my fault. I understand the physical attributes. However, when you go into the instrument display, towing, trailer options, you can select conventional, 5th wheel or gooseneck. What changes would the truck see between 5th wheel and gooseneck? Both connect to the truck bed in the same basic location, above the axles.

Its going to give you a different hookup checklist guide on the LCD instrument cluster due to one setup (5th wheel) not needing safety chains.

Hmm...
For all the different trailers I tow, I have NEVER made any trailer type changes in that menu.
checklist only. Right now i have my 5er (which is a goosebox)
5th wheel
GN
flattows
carhauler (bumper pull) and have never seen any real options so it must be a check list.
On my 19 with blis I believe it only offered blis coverage with conventional trailer option. So I ran everything as conventional. Only up to like 30 ft too.
I still would check my mirrors.
Its been awhile so maybe the others here can chime in.
