Glow plug LED locations?

I'm going to install one of the little red glow plug LED indicators today. I was thinking of putting it on the upper right corner of the 4x4 switch location. The little box cut out in the dash. It would be easy to see and easy to run wires to. Any other good options?

When I bought my truck many years ago, the previous owner had an alarm activated light 6" or so to the left of the steering column. I disabled the alarm and used the same hole for the GPR LED.

It is out of sight for most instances, but easily visible if I like. I used an orange LED, which kind of blends into the dark tan color when off, but illuminates very bright when on.

I'll see if I can find a picture as a visual aid.

The picture below is one I stole from the interwebs and is NOT my truck. I have placed a small orange circle roughly where my LED is located and used the orange arrow to locate the circle. I hope this helps.

Really that spot would work great for me too. I have my push button red heated mirrors button just to the right of where your orange circle is about an inch away from the steering column. I can put my little red LED just to the side of that and it would be out of the way as you said. I got red because I found a 10 pack online for 10 bucks. And that's also the same color as mine heated mirrors so it will all match. Thanks!

How did you route your wires for the led? Did you run your power wire to the glow plug relay following the main wiring harness going next to the main connector or did you run across the top of the engine bay along the back?

I ran the wire with the main harness over the engine toward the heater core/blower. Then through the firewall and across the dashboard to the instrument cluster area to be mounted. I use heat shrink, proper ring terminal and wire loom to ensure the wire was protected throughout the run.

Some pictures can be found here and around this post: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post19726389

This is the very basic wiring diagram I created and used as a guide:
