what engine do you have? if you have anything but the 4.9 300 i6, you should just get brackets and get a Saginaw P pump which im sure youve heard or read about in the past. The brackets are pretty much available new fab, original (vans, other uses), and otherwise easily modify the stock one(if aluminum in some cases I think)
if you have a 4.9 Id say it comes down to if you can get the brackets, pump, lines cheaper or if you can get that cheaper. in my case, the pump would be cheaper. If you have salvage yards, try and find a van with a 4.9. otherwise, slowly working on a solution but not quite there yet personally.
The Lee pump is either a saginaw P or CB pump thats fitting inside a machined housing to behave/fit like a C2

Mine's a 460. I'm aware that i could get brackets and pump off a van, but it looks to be a lot of work to change out that bracket. I like the idea of an improved pump that fits in the stock bracket.

Not really any more than only replacing pump especially if you leave the Saginaw pump on the bracket from the junkyard. You don’t even have to mess with pulling and pressing on the pulleys. Remove the belt, disconnect the hoses then unbolt them bracket. Install new bracket, connect the hoses, reinstall the belt and bleed the system.
No way I would spend that much money for that pump. Some Ford pumps have lasted me a long time and made no or very little noise and only had to be replaced because the front seal started leaking. Don’t get me wrong, I did the Saginaw swap on on my ‘87 Bronco years ago which really helped with the 35” tires. The ‘89 F-150 now has been converted during the rebuild process but were trucks done with junkyard parts.
I'll admit I haven't looked at the truck for awhile, but I remember looking at this thing & thinking that the whole front on the engine would have to come off the change that bracket. I I go to the you-pull junkyard, I'd have to do it twice....and that's if I can find a 460 powered van!
It's worth $200 to me not to have to go through that...
I was just wondering if anyone had actually used one of these pumps & if they worked as advertised. Seems like no one's willing to spend that much $.
At least on a 302/351 the bracket slips over a water pump stud and the three bolts screw into the cylinder head. Unbolt the a/c compressor and move it out of the way. I don’t know if it more complicated on a 460. It’s your money so you need to make that decision.
Well I finally pulled the trigger on the Lee PS pump. Works great and no more whining!!
I was gonna get a Saginaw pump off a van but all the ones I found that were already removed they wanted big $$ for and I REALLY didn't want to spend a day at the junkyard trying to get a pump and brackets off a 460 shoehorned in a van.
Looks like you should have bought the pump three years ago
That must be some insanely high price people are asking for the Saginaw pump to justify spend $400+ on the modified Ford pump. In the end it’s your money so as long as you’re happy….

Where are you buying a CII pump that is $200!?
I put a reman Lares on the Bronco II a couple years ago. No problem at all and is quiet.
he was referring to the original pump the topic was a bout , a Lee steering C2 pump with saginaw internals. The whole thing is custom to allow the reservoir of a C2 and the mounting tri point boss of them to be used with the reliability and superiority of the Saginaw.

He believes the Lee pump is a steal at $400 for a good quality pump which I completely disagree. In my post from 2022, I bought the engine bracket, Saginaw pump and pressure hose assembly for $35. I could probably still buy the whole thing from $100 or less. He also said that anyone that is paying $200 for a (CII) pump “that makes a lot of noise” is nuts. I agree. The price of a CII pump is nowhere near that much. He much be giving the parts guy a tip.
