I think I would rather have a bed similar to that. Nice looking truck, Kwikkordead.
I have considered building it myself, I have the resources just not a facility. I rented a 20’ overseas shipping container to build my engine because I have no garage or shop. I could build it outside but I’m at the mercy of the weather and it has been Africa hot here lately. I own a 40’ container on my sons property where I keep my tools and store things because we live in our 5th wheel. We own a house but rent it to my daughter and her family. Back to the subject. Did you build from scratch and what would you do different if you started again.
Also looks like you have aftermarket headlights, are you happy with them. Or would you go a different way on those?
I bought the truck from the original owner, who bought it as a cab and chassis, then put the box on commercially. He was towing a 42 foot King of the Road and I'm guessing he found it to be not enough truck because he had a medium duty International 650 class truck sitting in the RV park he was hosting, and had the truck that I bought for sale. That was back in 2005. I later on put in the auxiliary fuel tank to extend the range of the truck while towing the 5th wheel. The company that manufactured the box is now out of business, but I'm sure that someone could be found that offers something similar for your truck. Mine's a 550 and requires a 9 foot bed. 450 and 550 have a different frame, so that needs to be addressed if you have a 350.
I'm happy with the aftermarket lights, they do the job, but not with spectacular results. Just run of the mill light output. I don't drive much at night, so it's kind of a moot point. I replaced them because the factory ones were clouded.
Wish you the best of luck on this build.
