I've rebuilt the front suspension on my 66 F100 longbed. It has stock moog progressive rate coil springs, DJM drop beams, power steering, and Monroe gas magnum shocks in the front. The rear has DJM lowering spring perches towards the front, stock shackles in the rear, mystery leaf springs, and Monroe gas magnum shocks.
The problem is that while the truck generally rides well, any variation in the road imparts a lot of bounce and bump steer. I've used Koni and Bilstein shocks on my other vehicles with great results in terms of dampening and overall handling. Unfortunately, it seems niether company makes shocks for our trucks, but I have a hard time accepting that to be true.
Can anyone provide part numbers from their builds for shocks from Bilstein or Koni? I've seen some searching through the forums, but they appear to be NLA.
Also, the rear leafs seem to be different, as one side allows inches more drop than the other when lifting the truck for work. Can anyone recommend sources for rear leafs? 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton?
I would just measure the distance you need and call them and ask what sorts they have, instead of looking for year and model specific, because yours is no longer stock. Also if you cannot get the bump steer to stop some of the larger trucks came with steering dampeners that I am sure you could get to fit
