I have a '97 F150 4x4. I have replaced my OEM rear shocks with Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks. I have blown out 2 shocks on 2 sets of shocks. I don't abuse my truck or overload it. I don't think these shocks do what they claim to do. Can any one suggest or recommend a good heavy duty shock? Do they make an air shock? I think I have had it with Monroes.
Also at 12 yrs old, should I consider replacing my front and rear springs? Could they be fatigued?
haven't had the opportunity to own but Bilstein shocks are good shocks. they're the priciest ones but they are nice. check out their website they have every type of shock you can think of just bring your checkbook.
according to physics the only way your springs can be fatigued is if you overload it and put more force on them than the spring constant wants to handle causing them to flex and weaken. that's what happens when you take a regular spring and stretch it out and it stays stretched out. same thing applies.
check to see if there are any cracks in the leafs or coils and if everything is all in order. Could throw it on air bags.
I should have been more specific.I have the Monroe Sensa-Trac Load Adjusting shocks. These are the ones with the coil spring wrap. I have bought 2 pair and have had one of each pair blow out.
