E4OD - light brown fluid
So I bought a 97 350 with the E4OD, have no service history on the truck. Based on the stellar maintenance on the rest of the truck, I am guessing the transmission fluid is quite old. It is light brown in color, does not smell burnt and does not look like used motor oil. The truck has a long shift in 2nd to 3rd and sometimes an intermittent hard shift decelerating. The truck is not throwing any check engine lights or OD flashes.
Thinking about dropping he pan, changing the fluid without flushing, then topping off with fresh fluid - maybe a bottle of Lucas. Anyone have any experience with this or think there is a better idea?

I think you should use this method to change the fluid: https://www.ford-trucks.com/articles...-transmission/ That will change twice as much fluid as dropping the pan will change.
