My battery failed after only 18 months @ 51k miles…beyond warranty due to high miles. Bought and installed a new battery - apparently a big mistake. Dash and audible alarms went off shortly after starting with new battery in place and continued pretty much non-stop for 600 miles to my destination. Weekend “must go” trip, so no open dealerships. Went to Quicklane for oil change and tire rotation after returning home, asked them to also check the issue described above. They did, tried to reset BMC (BCM?) no joy. Charged me +$50 and said I need to schedule a mainline appt. Audible alarms have stopped so I haven’t scheduled yet. ABS, Downhill Traction Control warning lights still on and I have no cruise control. Happened to anyone else? What’s in store for me at dealership mainline service? Is it necessary to have dealership service dept. install new batteries in late model Fords now? I’m an old dog. Where’d I go wrong?
In my opinion, this doesn’t sound like a battery issue.
Are you 100 % sure that your new battery is good?
I’ve replaced the battery in my 2016 F150 in my driveway without any issues but, I did let it sit for more than 8 hours afterwards so everything was good to go the next morning. Doing this eliminates going to the dealer for the BCM reset but many will disagree.
You should take a drive to your local Auto Zone or Advanced Auto Parts and let them check the health of the battery and also let them run a diagnostic test so they can pull the CEL codes.
