I have a 2013 Screw Eco with about 18K miles on it. So far, I love the truck. MPG are not as good as I would like, but have max trailer with 3.73's, so have to be realistic. Does amazing job towing 30' travel trailer, ride is amazing, and will really get up and go when I want it to.
I have started having a few problems, and trying to find time during busy summer to get it into local shop for some warranty service. Just curious if anyone else has run into same/similar issues.
Dead Battery - Battery began going dead about a year ago. After about the fifth time, took it back to shop. They told me that it was "bad" battery and replaced. Has happened about 3 times since, never where it was anything I left on. I did notice one time that it appears once in a while that the radio, SYNC, and dash lights do not turn off after getting out of truck. Think this may be the battery drain issue, but not sure.
Cruise Control/Steering wheel controls - Seems like there is a poor connection on these. Started with cruise only turning on with he buttons intermittently, now to add to it, radio buttons work fine somedays and others many of them are backward. I press the media button and it moves preset forward. I press volume up, and the media changes. It is very intermittent, and sometimes will change after taking a corner.
Just curious if anyone else has run into any of these "minor" issues, and I will post an update after it hits the shop, once I can find time to get it there.
Thanks for responses. I do leave the key in, all the time. I live in rural area, never thought much about it. That makes sense if the PCM/BCM wakes up every 15 minutes why battery goes dead after it has sat for anything over 2-3 days. It also went dead yesterday, and that was during the 11 hours I was at work, but that may have been a fluke where I did not shut off key all the way. At least I can say one problem solved for time being, will start taking key out and see if dead battery problem goes away.
Thanks again, thats why I love this forum and will keep you updated on cruise control issue.

Mine goes dead if I don't drive it every 3 days or so. There are lots of threads on this issue, the BMS system and other stuff that kill the battery. The instrument cluster not shutting down is part of it. Your in the same boat as thousands of others who own 09 to 13 models. There is no fix for it. Ford says they are working on it but are kind of tight lipped about the whole issue. It looks more like a software bug. Google the subject and you'll see what I mean about others with this. I still like my Eco though. I've just accepted that if I leave the truck parked for 4 or more days then I have to plug in a charger.

Is this an eco only issue?? I have a 13 5.0 have not ran for 3 days no issues could u tell me what makes the battery go dead after 4 or more days??

09 to 13 and maybe the 14 F150s. Both 5.0 and ecoboost. Seems to be random. Ford seems to feel that some vehicles have intermittent problems with the instrument cluster not processing the power down command from the ECU. That's what some owners are reporting finding their instrument panels lit up when the truck should be off.

Just had my steering wheel radio/sync controls replaced, driver door weather stripping, driver door speaker replaced. I think I will be going back for the passenger side real soon since the speaker is now cutting in and out after rain storms. I too have had intermittent battery issues. Make sure that you unplug everything that might draw power(USB cords, 12v plugs, and even anything you might connect to the obd port) before you leave the vehicle.

There is lot of posts on various forums about the battery issues. It seems to be not so much with the battery, but more the battery management system. When the truck is off the battery draw should drop to 30ma after 30 minutes key off. Problem is, it doesn't stay that way. Various instrument and sync systems will randomly start up while the truck is parked and do a few things then shut down again. One of the things that's been noted was the TPMS doing self testing while the truck is dormant. So it seems software needs some work. Why would the tire pressure need to be checked unless the vehicle is moving.
Ford is being somewhat tight lipped about progress in solving this.
I have a 2011 Eco screw and love the power made believers out of some little fart can cars, but I am on my 4th warranty replaced battery, they do the long test up to 3 hours always come back and tell me bad cell, and they've replaced the batt.. Went in with a WOT skip they replaced a couple of plug boots and a coil pack, runs good now , now if they can get rid of the water problems, if your on the highway using cruise control during a rain storm water will pool up in the intercooler and then when you need to really get on it the water gets blown into the engine and you lose all power until it clears it self out it happened to me again the other day its just like yanking 3 or 4 plug wires off and it can last up to 45 seconds, the bad thing is it never shows up on a diagnostic scan.

Very interesting will start watching my instrument cluster, I never turn off my radar detecter either does go into sleep mode after a few minutes, but have never had a problem but not sure if mine has ever sat for 4 days or so know it has for 3 days though???
My 2011 Eco has sat for a few weeks and hasn't had this issue. But my 06 w/ 5.4 would do this if I let it sit for a week at a time. I had to pick up a battery tender for the 06.

There's a TSB for the water in the intercooler issue.

If I leave my 13 eco for 4 days, it will barely start. It's been in 6 times for this. I'm now on a list of escalated service issues and tell me I'll be notified when they have a fix. Canada has no lemon law. Buyer beware. Other than th is, I really like the truck.
