Hello, I have a 1981 Ford F100 Ranger Explorer XLT. I am changing the flexplate because my starter does not seem to align with the flexplate properly. That is another story. Anyways, I took out my rear crossmember to move my transmission back because the pan was hitting it. It was hard to remove. Now when I try to bold it back on the holes don't line up with the frame. They are almost 1/2 inch off. I can bolt one side but the other side is off. It is almost like it is warped or shrunk or something I don't know. Please help!
We know that the crossmember can't shrink. Perhaps the flange of the frame rails splayed out a 1/4" on each side when you removed the crossmember? Perhaps a long bar clamp or come-a-long can bring the rails back to the crossmember?
