I was doing a bunch of other things and I figured I'd change them since they were shot. I got them from Autozone. Problem is the bolt won't line up with the hole when I lower the vehicle worth a damn. I swapped sides, I even bolted them to the frame and tried lowering them thinking they'd line up. Its too far back. Still like an inch off on the worser side, maybe 1/2" on the other. I can't really compare them with the old ones because they are so far gone...I'm talking like ALL rubber deterioted and its covered in gunk from I the leaks I inherited.
This is frustrating. I've changed more than I can count on other vehicles and never had this problem. I checked the box and verified the p/n# on Autozones website. It also says they are universal meaning they can go on either side. I don't see how though but if you look at them side by side the stud is always alittle more on one side of the unit in relationship to the mounting holes than the other so I don't see how they can be universal.
Are you guys jacking up the vehicle? Maybe I'll try jacking up the rear to bring it forward some. Next up, chains and some grunt! After doing headers, valve covers, intake, flexplate, timing chain, oil pan, and oil pump, this is the last thing I figured would give me a problem and its the last thing that needs to get done to fire up the vehicle!
Maybe I'm too tired to think logically here, who knows. What goes up, must come down....but sometimes it doesn't come down in the same place

Iwould try running down to my local Ford dealer and see if they will pull out a original equipment mount for you and see if its different, otherwise you may be chasing your tail on this one .
This has got to be the weirdest thing I've ever encountered. I compared it to OEM mounts, they are exactly alike and they are interchangable. I tried jacking up the frame thinking the crossmember would sag, but my jackstands are only high enough to get the front axle. That of course is attached in some ways to the k member so it wouldn't sag if I placed them there. The studs on the tran. crossmember are all the way forward, still nothing. One side I clearanced with the hole with an angle grinder. The other side I took off and am pondering if I will ruin it if I take an inch off it to get the stud to drop down it. This is just retarded
I just replace the engine mounts on mine. I got them from auto zone too. I took off the transmission mount and put a piece of wood under the oil pan and jacked er up till the bellhousing hit the firewall. I had a little trouble with the drivres side, it had to be wiggled in just right. hope this can help
