This is my first go-around painting a vehicle. Thankfully I have an experienced painter guiding me through the actual prep and paint process. But I need to find out the best way to lay out the lines for the cab and get them positioned correctly.
Is the best process to get measurements, radius, and lay out the masking by hand? Or make a template of some sort? Or is there actually a template available for doing this?
picture below are the lines I need to recreate. I’m really just trying to figure out the best approach.
My paint guy said just go back all black on top, but I really like the original paint scheme.
Thanks
If it's to be all paint, no stripe tape ... I think in that example would paint the silver grey as base, then lay out the total area of the darker grey or black with tape and mask hiding the lighter color you want, then use a thinner stripe tape to run inside the area to be painted dark. to create the stripes. Clear it all together.
I'm no painter, but I did build some super detailed models in a past life.

Thanks. I’m good to go on the masking process, I’m just wondering about the method for being sure I get the right placement. I may just be overthinking it.
