i was talking to someone and they kept correcting me to 4r100. I was like.... if you cant understand the fact its different but same lineage Idk what to do!
Yeah the 4R100 is derived from the E4OD but didn't even exist until 1998 and none were made with the SBF bolt pattern, so NOT the same.
I would test the MLPS before throwing the transmission in the scrap pile.
And you would be wasting your time. The MLPS cannot cause this to happen. No matter what happens with the MLPS the trans will go into gear when you move the shift lever.
You can move the shifter, trans only takes gear sometimes then you will only have 1st and it will start slipping. When I got home yesterday I started the truck and went in reverse just fine went to drive and it lasted about 10 feet and had nothing no reverse or forward gears.

It appears that it does go into gear. The MLPS can cause a false neutral. I was trying to rule out it was actually working. Your saying that isn’t possible. I would say that the forward clutch is bad but reverse doesn’t use that clutch so what does one of the trans engineers say broke?

No, it cannot cause a false neutral. As I said above, no matter what the MLPS is doing the trans will go into gear.

I understand that. I'm telling you that if it isn't working it will NOT cause this problem. It doesn't matter to this problem if it works or not. So testing it is a waste of time.

It could be loose feedbolts. It could be a bad pump. It could be a loose/missing internal filter. It could be a failed planetary assembly. It could be a few other things that I haven't thought of.

Hey Mark...been hoping to catch you commenting....I had your instructions for changing the fluid in the E4OD stored on my cell phone...and I no longer have the phone lol.... I know you've posted it quite a few times and I apologize for asking, but would you please give it to me again? Thanks Mark
