Questionable F750
Door Sill Plate says 156" WB, Body "181", Trans "F", Axle "41"
Curious as to market value; looks brand new...owner claims 20k original miles.
Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Welcome to FTE!
D = 292 4V Ford Y-block gas V8 (should be HD version)
P = Twin Cities Assembly Plant
450429 = 1964 numerical series, September 1963 production
156 = 156 inch wheelbase
181 = Silver gray crush vinyl and light gray crush vinyl, conventional cab. (Maybe, the standard cab vs. custom cab is not clear with the info given)
F = Warner model T98A four speed transmission, synchro in 2-3-4.
41 = Single speed rear axle, 13,000 lbs capacity, 5.83 ratio. There are all kinds of axles listed for "41" in the years prior to '64. Is yours a single speed?
Since the odometer rolls around to zero again on these, it could be 20,000 or 120,000, or it could have been rolled back at some point as that's pretty easy to do on old speedo's.
How are the brakes? Tires? Does it have widowmaker wheels? Is it really a single speed axle? What is the model number on the tag and the GVWR?
EDIT: SEE POST 3, THIS DOOR TAG DOES NOT MATCH THE TRUCK IN QUESTION.
The door must have been off an F500, and therefore the VIN on that tag DOES NOT APPLY to this truck. If he is trying to sell it with that VIN, he is probably committing fraud or is just plain uninformed or worse.
It appears to have an F750 hood.
That engine could be a 330, but 330s show 164 net HP @ 3800 RPM. The 292 shows 153 @ 3800, the 302 163 @ 3600. So maybe it has an old air cleaner on top of the 330--except I see 186 on the air cleaner.
There is a VIN stamped on the frame rail about even with the alternator on the passenger side of the truck.
Are you thinking of buying this thing?
Seems like I've seen these pictures here before.
The VIN on the frame needs to match the VIN on the title, period. The tag on the door MEANS NOTHING.
F-750 is more believable with the air brake system and 10 lug bud wheels which were normally not seen until the F-800/850
It’s a nice looking show truck but not much good for anything else without some modifications
First to pull any type of trailer that aluminum pickup truck tool box will have to be removed, you need a minimum of 60 inches from the center of the 5th wheel to any part of the truck above the 5th wheel for trailer swing clearance
That low profile 5th wheel looks nice but the first time you hook to a trailer you can probably kiss those wheel fenders goodbye and the 1st off angle turn would have the corners of a trailer down on a fuel tank
The 186 hp air cleaner, governors distributor and Holley carb are more in line with a 361 engine that was also the standard engine in a F-750
