It's apparently an F350, Ragoon red, 352ci, NP435 4spd, Dana 70(4.10), built in Kansas City, ordered in Chicago, but what year?

I've no idea what year it is, I was hoping someone could tell me. The guy I bought it from said it was a 1967, and he told me it had a 360, which made me think it was a 68, and I also had a VIN decoder tell me it was a 68, but I also had some other VIN decoders tell me it was a 66, or a 67.

Try this:

In addition to the V.I.N. on the driver's door data plate, the number is also stamped on the frame in two different places, both on the topside of the right frame rail. The first one is in the engine compartment, just below the alternator on two-wheel-drive pickups or just behind the front axle on four-wheel-drive pickups.

The second number is stamped just under where the seat would be located. You'll likely need a flashlight and small mirror to read this one.

These frame stamps are usually hard to read, so be sure to grab a wire brush and some rags to clean the grime off.

What does the grille look like?

67

68

69

You can not tell what CI an FE is from the outside. No markings were put on them. Most become 390ci when someone is selling something(to make it worth more).

Going by the tag, it has, or originally came with, a 352. So regardless of what engine is in it right now, it is not a 68 and up as the last year a 352 came in these models were 67. They changed body styles in 67 as well, so if it looks like the body styles that are in this forum, it has to be a 67. People often change the grills at times over the years, so sometimes you cant go by that either. Does it have the "slide" heater controls under the radio, or the "pull out" heater controls? The heater controls is the easiest way to tell even though the interior door handles are different but could have been changed out over the years as well.

Compare the VIN on the Warranty Plate to the VIN on the registration and hidden frame VIN to verify they all match.

People replaced damaged left doors with used doors. 99.9% of the time, they failed to install the original Warranty Plate on the replaced door.

F35 = F350.

Y = 352 2V (360/390 not available until 1968. 1968/76: Y = 360 2V).

K = Kansas City MO Assembly Plant.

A29607 = 1967 .. assembled October 1966.

W.B. (Wheelbase) omitted.

J = Rangoon Red.

F351 = F350, 8,000 lbs. GVWR

581: 5 = Red Crush Vinyl & Red Bar Pattern Vinyl / 81 = 81A Standard Cab.

A = New Process 435 4 Speed Manual Transmission.

27 = Dana 70 Rear Axle / 4.10-1 / No Limited Slip / 7,400 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.

8,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

172 net HP @ 4,000 RPM

410219:

41 = Chicago IL Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

0219 = Domestic Special Order number. The truck was special ordered by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."

Decode info source: 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog.
-----------------------------------------------------
They look the same, but looks can be deceiving. 1967's have a plethora of parts that are 1967 only .. not the same as 1968/72.

Some examples: Radio, heater, dash, firewall, clutch & brake pedals, bracket under the dash the pedals suspend from, grilles, hood side emblems, instrument cluster back.

The doors are different. 1967: You push the inside handles forward to lock the doors. 1968/72's have door lock *****.

1967 only: Door shells, door lock remote controls, window regulators, door latches, inside door and window handles, vent frames & handles, arm rests.

1967/72 same door parts: Glass, weatherstrips, division bars, upper/lower hinges, outside door handles, door lock cylinders.
