G’day all!
I want to add a LOUD electric horn to my ‘17 F-250 SD, probably using an upfitter switch. How difficult a project is it…I want to wire it through a relay.
If you are using an upfitter switch, you don't need a relay. The upfitter switch drives a relay. Find the upfitter bundle of wires under the hood, choose the wire that corresponds to the switch you want to use and connect the horn power wire to it. Connect the ground wire to a good ground.
I used upfitter #1 for an air horn and it's freaking awesome! I will say though that one night after a concert we jumped in the truck and I grabbed the window visor down from the windshield real fast and accidentally hit the upfitter switch... the horn just went off and it took me a moment to realize what was happening! LOL... good thing everyone coming out just came from a loud concert! I like having the horn on the upfitter though...

I don't have anything hooked up to my upfitters yet, but I accidently flip on the first two or three quite often when reaching for my sunglasses. They did pick a strange place to put the upfitters. Or the sunglasses holder. One or the other.
