Yellowstone closed

In case anyone has plans for the next month or two, might want to change your plans. Heavy rains have caused flooding that has washed out several roads and left some visitors stranded in the park.

Thats a somewhat washed out road, there are a couple more where the road no longer exists.

I saw that. We were going to go during the last week of July. The damage to the roads is pretty devastating.

closed and all evacuated, except some backpackers, they are probably trying to find them.

Yeah, those backpackers are probably downstream from Billings by now!

We were going to bounce around the outskirts of Yellowstone this summer like we did few years ago, those plans have changed.

Prayers for the folks that live there or are stranded there, what a mess!

We were in Yellowstone two weeks ago... On the very roads in the images now. We went in the north entrance, did a half figure eight and went out the east entrance. The damage they are showing is quite devastating and will take a while to get back to public safety standards.

If anyone was going on their first trip there, don't scrub it off the list of destinations for good. This was our second time in Yellowstone and it is breathtaking.

Agreed Sous. We've been there 3 times and will return at some point. This year we are doing Glacier. This will be our first time there and are very excited. Be safe all....

We were fortunate to spend several weeks near 4 of the entrances, including Gardiner in 2019. I feel for the people that have planned there vacations there in the near future.

Just read an article that stated Yellowstone is going to open the north loop tomorrow as well as remove the "limited capacity" restrictions on the park.

Thinking back now, I don't remember seeing anyone in a mask, but I really wasn't looking and don't care if someone wants to wear a mask. We don't wear masks, but that is our choice.

Looks like indoor enforcement only, at least according to their web site. At this point it should be by choice, not by force.

Watch out for the monkeypox, seems like the latest thing coming around.

Some year I would like to take a trip there, but we are glampers, not campers. Got to have AC or I can't sleep.

We will be there in late August and travel from West Yellowstone eastward onto Cody, WY on our journey to Camp Hatteras on the Outer Banks of NC and then Martinsville, VA for a NASCAR Cup Race.

Sounds like quite a journey! We stopped in Cody WY for just a bit when we were out there a month or so ago.

Based on your projected path of travel, if you are looking to stay outside the east entrance, below are a few spots we scouted out and think a 5th wheel would be OK in.

The blue pins mark the campgrounds.

Have fun and enjoy the journey!

There's also Buffalo Bill State park just west of Cody. We stayed there twice. Beautiful campground.....
