If you want to have some serious mirror envy, you should look at @Shovelheadrob or @udsuth78 's power-everything (including fold and telescoping) mirrors.
Boy I wouldn't give up my '14 OEM/FORD new truck take offs for the '17-up ones myself.
What is the big draw now with the '17-up models? - They actually look SMALLER than the '08-'16s to me....
I remember way back in '08 when the swap became popular everyone was doing it on the '99-'07 trucks....
I heard and read a LOT of bad reviews about AFTERMARKET units back then and I lucked out and found my '14s
I have since heard that the TRAIL RIDGE units were good but then some also say that they are also not as good as the OEM ones.
I absolutely HATE distorted/rattling mirrors!
Sorry about that, here's a good one, hopefully. I'll update the other as well
Got it! Thank you sir.

I was turned on to the 2017 mirrors I posted by Au250 who has a set. He claims they are steady at highway speeds and a big improvement.

I am paraphrasing a post by Y2KW57 here because I am on my phone...
The 2017 top mirror is a bit smaller than the 2008, but it is still very adequate for it's suited purpose. The lower mirror on the 2017 is larger and more convex allowing for a much broader range of view.
I also feel as Ford_Rush does in the way that the 2017 style goes with our trucks body lines a bit more. That is personal preference though and I still have not swapped the mirrors out, though they are on the list.

Good to hear they are steady going down the highway. I like the 08 style...especially mine with the 17 lights...on a 4wd truck like my F350. For the wife's 2wd Excursion, I will go with the 17 style slanted top...maybe even the chrome top caps.
I have been holding off because the current AERDM 17 style slanted top units have the heat symbol, the adjacent vehicle symbol, and the lit turn signal arrows which take up real estate and the adjacent vehicle monitor probably won't even be utilized on our trucks. The earlier versions only had the heat symbol like I see on the AAKON units Ford_Rush linked and bought. The thing I don't like about those is the dark tinted turn signals given the plain white like the originals look better on a white truck...IMHO. I'll have to do some research and see if the AAKON units come that way and possibly even have a chrome top cap option...
Do the mirrors have the turn signals and adjacent sensors on the mirror surface like the AERDM units Sous linked? Do the mirror surfaces vibrate driving down the road? I am wanting these mirrors for the Excursion and have the AERDM 08 style with 17 side lights on my F350 and like them. Also, do yours have the bottom puddle lights?
Sorry I haven't followed up with your questions yet, I should have some time tomorrow to look for a puddle light. I know they don't have them, but it seems like there is a spot for one. I'll take some more pictures of them.

No there is no lights on the mirror side.
Do the mirror surfaces vibrate driving down the road?
No vibration at all from the glass on these.
I have the aerdm 17+ style on mine also. I'm definitely happy with them for the price. Mine have power. Heat. Turn signal in front side. Aux white light in the front side. Puddle lamp on the bottom. And a turn signal on the mirror side that faces back. I have them wires up where the aux white light is on with headlights then when turn signal comes on it goes off and the yellow turn signal part flashes.

Sous,
There's two things I'm looking for in towing mirrors.
One is the ability to see behind my trailer when my load is a full 8-1/2 feet wide and extends to about 33 feet behind the truck. If things work out, I will be looking for a 53 foot trailer making the problem worse. That would put the end of the trailer about 49 feet behind the truck.
It's worst with a tarped load as the tarp tends to puff out in places. If some blue lights were right behind my load, there's no way to see them. I installed a camera at the back of my trailer as a test, but that needs new wiring.
I'm thinking that the upper trimmed corner of the 2017 mirrors won't matter too much as that typically see's just the sky unless you are starting up a hill. I typically set the mirrors so the horizon is around the middle of the mirror.
Two is the ability to see my rear tires in the convex mirrors. On paddle style mirrors like I have on my daily driver, I use 3" convex mirrors and you can see the ground, side of the truck and rear tires real well and this make backing into parking spots a breeze.
Towing a trailer in tight quarters you need to see things like pallets or building materials that stick out down low when you are swinging the truck. The 1999 convex mirrors are a total joke, like those tiny stick on mirrors. They may "work" for the driver's side, but not the passenger side.
Heated mirrors will be real nice and any extra turn signals are a bonus. I don't need puddle lights as I like chicken lights on the running boards which serve the same function.
Sorry to take so dang long answering this part of your question bwguardian.. It may not be helpful to you anymore, but maybe it will help someone else.
There is no puddle light installed, but this is what the bottom of the mirror looks like. That should make if fairly simple to add one if wanted.
that's the version i went with and they are great.. did not do the blinkers heat etc.. just wanted larger convex mirror which they have. easy to pull out and push in from the truck.. open window pull mirror to folded postition, slide them out or pull back in..

I have those in mine with the puddle lights. The puddle lights are pretty nice. I wires them to odke lights so when you unlock doors with keyfob they come in for about 30 seconds. Light up the whole side of the truck at night.

Where did you get them...looking for another pair for the wife's Excursion? Also, are the blinker lights more red or yellow?

The ones I got are aerdm brand off Amazon. I can find link to them if you would like. There yellow blinkers. Have heat. Blinkers on mirror side facing back of truck. Blinkers and aux light on front side. Puddle lights underneath.
Thanks for all the help you guys. I decided on the 08 style and already they are a huge improvement over what I had. Just went with the Amazon specials and they came with a sweet adapter plug so they’re powered. I’m not going to wire in the heaters or lights because I’m not smart enough to figure out how to do it lol.
I figure they’re easy enough to change if they end up being crappy.
