Picked up a King Ranch seat from the rear of a 2007 truck. I’m going to try my hand at coming up with a way to bolt it into my 79 F-250 regular cab. My current bucket seats and console were a half hearted install by the PO so I have nothing to really start with. I don’t really need the sliding mechanism since I’m the only person that ever drives my truck so my plan is to just bolt this in exactly where I want and be done with it. I have no idea how difficult this will be but I’ll update once I figure it out.
You are going to maybe have to hammer flat the back part of the sliders, if they are as curved as the fronts. They might in their current position make the seat set to high. The front might need bent down (curved down more) a bit and attach to the front curve of the floor where it goes from the floor to the part under the seat.
You will also want to make sure the dvrs seat part is centered for you and the steering wheel. I think that doing a even split of the seat width and seat to door gap distance might make the dvrs seat part to far in board. I think the rear seat of a 07 is more narrow that the 79 bench.
If it ends up being to low, as it did when I put the 2000ish SD rear seat in my 79. It had the same looking style of mount brackets as yours. I took them off and reused the 79 sliders. I had to use square tubing as a riser, but got to use the OEM seat mount holes and hdwr.
Thanks guys! Unfortunately I don’t have any original mounting equipment since the seats that are in the truck came from something else and are mounted to a sketchy home made adapter. My plan is to pull all the existing stuff out and just set this seat in and see where I’m at. If I need to do some shimming or bending I’m not too worried. I just want to get it right so any drilling I need to do is where I want it. I guess I’ll find out soon enough.
Good luck and keep us posted on what works, I always eyeball those King Ranch seat where they are in the JY every so often. I missed a KR back seat out of F150 CC for 35 bucks.
Im sure you can make something work. You will want it as possible when I set mine in to eyeball it it was to tall at 6' I had to duck to sit and duck more to see out the windshield. Also some leather cpr will work wonderd on that seat, Google kingranch seat cleaning there are some good videos. I cleaned mine the a few leather cpr applications got some moisture back into it. This leather is way different the most car products
I got it set in and it’s really pretty close to ok. The center support leg sits a little higher than the two outside legs so I’ll need to figure out how to lower where that hits the floor slightly to get everything level. I could shim the outside legs up but I don’t want it any higher. I’m 5’11” and it’s ok but anyone over 6’ would be too tall. I plan on keeping this thing forever so I’m ok with having it a little high. The front feet are in good spots and I think all I will have to do is bend them slightly to make the angle match the floor just right. I have real thick vinyl and some insulation under it on the floor so it’s a little hard to tell how much it will suck down when I bolt it down. I’m out of time for today but I’ll mess with it again tomorrow.
Thanks! My buddy had the idea and I had a bunch of sheds at the house so I found some that worked for the ZF5 and the TC.
BTW this seat is kicking my butt. I’ve tried everything I can think of but I think I’m going to have to cut the center support and weld it back together. I need that one about an inch or two lower. The center of the cab floor is that much higher than the outer spots closer to the doors. The outer two legs put the seat at just the right height but the center leg is just too high and the two sections of the seat won’t align. I’ve got it shimmed on the outsides with 1.5” square tubing for now and it bolts in just fine but I don’t like the height. Oh well at least I have something to keep me busy.
