Seat install
I have a unknown bench seat that i want to use in my 55f1. This is my plan of attack. I put the seat in the truck and raise it up to the height that feels good as if i where driving. Heres where i have questions. The seat tracks slide front to back say. I thought that i should mount the seat with the tracks all the way forward so the seat would be back as far as it could than mount it. This is so the seat could come forward for what ever reason need be. With this being said the front of the tracks are at the front edge of the seat. When you look from the side theres really no support on the back of the seat. The runners are not very long. Should i move them back to better center the seat? I was sitting in the truck making vrooom vrooom sounds and cruising in my mind and the seat felt good all the way back, mind you im only 5'5" tall.
To me it seems like the only reason the seat would move if someone shorter than me drove the truck. I also have a set of bucket seats that i could use as well but than that means only to can go in the truck? Do you guys have any ideas or is there the perfect seat out there to swap in?
Thanks Roger

I put a bench in mine for that third person, just in case.
You will want to fashion some kind of support for the rear of the track. It really needs to be solid in case of that unexpected nudge from someone not paying attention.
I made the seat move as well. I am 6'2" and my wife is 5'2" , tho she says she will ne'er drive the Mistress anywhere.

i think you won't have left right issues, long as u don't need to reach down to adjust the seat.

Its got to go higher and tilt forward abit. I like how Ben made his mount. I wonder how that box was made?
Ben, do you have any build pics of the seat box?

Hey Roger,
Unfortunately mine was recycled from "original" bucket seat mounts on our truck. It's just steel plate welded up to form boxes. We ground them down a bit to fit our new set up... (Original pic below).

Roger???
is your seat from a car or truck ?? Car seats tend to 'lay back' more than truck seats. Mine is from a mid-80 Ch**y truck and all I had to do is raise it up about 2 inches.
Also with a car seat, probably the back doesn't fold forward for access to the rear storage.

I think it's a car seat and yes it does fold forward, driver and passenger side one at a time because it folds on an angle as if to let someone get in the back seat of a two door car.
I've got one that if 4'9" (She was 4'11" until her car accident when she was 17)
Of course I doubt she will ever drive my truck when I get to that point. Although my 5' daughter might (I doubt she will grow much more, she is 17.)
Back on topic. If you are going to look at other options, here is a great article on what fits on our trucks.

You have to scroll down a ways to get to seats.
I think ferguson777 is due the credit for the article. Probably a lot of guys helped that are much smarter than me.
