1966 F100, 352, C6AE-R cylinder heads. Have a tick that's getting louder, and it's very loud under load but pretty much not there at idle. Seems to be a header gasket issue.
It had regular steel headers on it when I bought it, so I don't know what brand they are. Looking around the internet and the forum, I can't find a clear post on what exact header gasket I need, as the exhaust port sizes vary. The Ramflex gaskets look like the way to go. They have various ones for the FE, though, and I'm not sure how to figure out which one I need. Here are all their FE gaskets. Any idea which one I'd need?
I'd also love to replace the collector gaskets at the same time, especially since I run dual oxygen sensors to an digital A/F gauge on the dash (in order to make totally sure I have no leaks that will dilute the A/F readings). Not sure how to know what size they need to be either.
Here are pictures of the heads and one picture of part of the headers.
Thanks. I linked the Ramflex catalog above. They have 8 or 9 different gaskets for the FE, and none tell me which cylinder head they go to and none specify F100 or truck use except for the FT engine.
So I'm trying to find out the exhaust port size on the C6AE-R heads, as well as how to figure out my collector gasket size and shape.
Not on the subject, but: I would loom-up those wires. They tend to egg out the connectors at the plug over time from vibration. Here is what I did to a few motors.

Believe it or not Ford did not change the exhaust port exit size on different cast iron heads they were all 1.28 X 1.84. They fooled around with everything else but that dimension remained the same on all of them. You should need PN-3009.
If those headers only have 1/4 or 5/16 flanges you might want to remove them and make sure the flanges aren't warped before you install new gaskets. FORD Header/Exhaust Manifold Gasket (remflex.com)

Thank you! Summit order in. Also got the RFL-GS16511 gasket material sheet so I can cut out whatever size and bolt pattern I need for the collector gaskets. I'll mention to the shop to check the flanges when they do the install.

Given that Christmas already introduced some off-topic in this thread I hope Craig won't mind if I
further detour from his topic... I had recently been contemplating the purpose of a bolt w/washer
on the core support near battery. In Christmas' pictures I see that appears used to anchor an
auxiliary battery holddown bracket in first picture and I think ground strap in second picture. Can
anyone clarify the intended use? I'm now thinking of following the body ground example as I've
been wondering why I couldn't find body ground strap in my engine bay.
Remflex header gaskets installed. They're thick. She's breathing easy now. I didn't need the collector gaskets now, so I'll save em for later.
Good deal. You should probably get some booties for your H-T leads, like in X-mas's 2nd pic. Your front boot is starting to look crispy. You can find them at Summit or Amazon in a variety of colors.
