Reinstall deleted emissions
bought a 2012 f350 super duty 6.7 from a dealership in August. 40k miles. Came with a street tuner and a few other things.
never used the tuner until a month ago. Plugged it in, said it was initializing and I let it do its thing for a while. A few hours later, after running some errands, turning off and restarting the truck several times, the truck wouldn't start. Short version: fried the pcm. Got that replaced but getting a bunch of error messages, etc. Come to find out the original owner who traded it in to the dealership where I bought it had all the emissions stuff deleted. Creates an issue programing the new pcm.
Found out deleting the emissions is illegal, and that avoiding to Ohio revised code the dealer shouldn't have sold me the truck at all with the deleted emissions. Also the epa is apparently cracking down on people going the deletions.
Gonna contact the dealer with my mechanic next week and tell them what's going on.
anyone have any advice on either reinstalling the emissions stuff, or a mechanic in ne Ohio that can do the programming around the deletions, either way that won't cost me a small fortune?
If it’s an actual dealership I find it hard to believe they’d actually sell a truck like that. They should have a mechanic that all he does is go through trade-ins to inspect for safety reasons and make sure the cars good to sell used.
