I have a 2014 F350 Platinum with the SYNC system and touch screen. The screen comes on but will not respond to any touch commands (according to my wife, I haven’t been near my truck since December). The last time it worked was when she took the truck in for window tint including the windshield. My guess is water got into the wrong area and caused the screen to not respond anymore. I want to upgrade my system to include CarPlay and still be able to keep the controls for the heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel and other truck specific options that are controlled through the head unit as well as keep the reverse camera functioning. What options do I have? I thought I saw there was an option to upgrade to the SYNC 3 system like my 2020 F150 has but not quite sure what that entails and if it would allow me to keep all my features or if it would be cheaper to go aftermarket? Thank you for your help.
Unless it’s a compatible system from Ford which ford should be able to tell you what should and shouldn’t work. That’s probably your only real options.
The modern systems are getting really way to complicated for 3rd party companies to keep up with and make a buck with. They’ll usually have the basic integration like maybe steering wheel control integration but not much beyond that.
On Amazon there are a couple of sellers that have complete plug and play Sync 2 to 3 conversion kits. You will have to supply them with your vin number so they can program it to your truck.
