Oh boy, I have done it now. I am very new to the diesel world and I believe myself to have made my first grim mistake. While using forscan to change some settings IE: lights, tire size etc. After writing the changes my CEL came on. Code P0602, PCM programming error. I bought the truck at a Chevy dealership and realized after getting it home it had been through a weight reduction procedure. No big deal really. I tried to reload the previous saved files but it does not seem to want to take it although forscan said it was complete. I Even had forscan download and install the factory asbuilts being the truck is now at the shop as we try to figure out what to do with it so we can install the EZ Lynk. The truck still starts and drives just fine although the fuel mileage has gone to complete crap. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 2015 F250 SD FTX 6.7 4X4
If you did not get the tuner with the purchase of the truck, you might be truly screwed. Also, a dealership is not suppose to sell any emission deleted vehicles.
The As-Built data should have no affect on the operation of the engine/fuel system.
Personally, I would go back to the dealer and ask them why they sold you an emissions altered vehicle. I would request a refund and go look for anther truck.
Believe it or not I did ask them about that the following day my neighbor discovered it to be deleted. I was told the vehicle was sold as is, which i knew this when I purchased it. It only has 80K miles on it and I am in love with it. They wont even help me get in contact with the previous owner. I thought your statement to be true and inquired about it. I did however just find out the other day that all the sales managers at that dealership were fired and replaced. I am wondering if my questions had anything to do with that? I have had the truck for 2 months, Rock and a hard place is my situation right now.
Sold as is might be a way for them to get around the missing emissions as I do not know.. I would contact them and casually mention you are going to contact EPA as to whether that catch all, "sold as is", still allows a dealer to sell a deleted truck. I would actually contact EPA and ask them or search online at the EPA website also.
Well considering it's against federal law to delete any vehicle in the US, I guess it really depends on your state and county for emissions testing and also, if you want to get a lawyer involved in a lawsuit, which is doesn't sound like that's what you want, but I suppose you could ask a lawyer to send a letter on your behalf to the dealership insisting that you be given the name and telephone number of the PO of the truck, you might be able to get the programmer from him at that point.. Just a thought.....Good Luck.

In most states, the only way a licensed dealership can sell a vehicle with altered emissions equipment is with a salvage title, and only to a licensed salvage business.
thank you all for your input, I am in Oklahoma and dont really want to give up the truck But at what expense is that going to be. I will however pursue trying to the PO contact information. I live in a pretty small area so maybe social media may be a good place to try.
My personal experience is that any licensed dealer is required by law to ensure if they purchase a vehicle that has had the emissions equipment removed or modified they must return all emissions equipment to fully operational prior to selling it. Doesn't matter where you bought it and truthfully the EPA does not care what state you are in. Emissions equipment is federally mandated and not state, county, or city ordinance. Testing is just how some states make extra income really.
That being said if you like the truck that much you will have to restore the emissions equipment to return it to full functionality.
thank you, I am currently trying to communicate with the dealer, they say there is no liability on their part to do so. I am still weighing the options of cost. My biggest concern is rattling the cage so hard that I am forced to let it go. Big bummer, I was finally in a position to get my SD, now all of this.
