Unable to program Securicode
Hoping someone can help me, ive been banging my head on the steering wheel for a few hours over here.
I have a 2020 F250 that I am trying to add the Securicode (stick-on version) keypad to. For the life of me I am unable to get the truck into the key programming mode to pair the device up. As our resident tech guru this is making me look bad lol.
I have found a number of different ways for the different years on the interwebs but my understanding of the procedure for this model is this:
1. Get in the truck and close all doors.
2. Open driver door
3. Press unlock button on driver door.
4. Cycle key 8 times from OFF to RUN, ending on RUN within 10 seconds.
At this point I should be hearing a chime indicating it is in programming mode.
For the life of me, I cant seem to make this work, ive tried slightly slower and more deliberate cycles to cycling so fast I thought I was gonna break something and the truck just refuses to enter the programming mode.
My hope is one of you Ford experts can call me out with a "hey dummy do it this way" because we are ready to take it down to the dealership and get bent over for a process that should have taken me 5 minutes. After this I have an F450 and an F550 that I will also be adding these to so a solid answer will save us a good chunk of wasted money and time at a dealership.
Thanks in advance!
There is a model year cutoff point where the stick-on wireless Securicode keypads went from being able to be coded to the vehicles at home using a procedure like the one you are trying with key cycles vs. needing to be done at the dealer with Ford's FDRS software to program the BCM. I don't know exactly what that model year cutoff is (not helpful, I know). But, for my wife's 2021 Ranger Lariat, it had to be done at the dealer (and I believe that the same is true for the 2019 and 2020 Ranger). You can buy a license for the Ford's FDRS software and do it at home, but it requires the right dongle and is ~$300-$500 for the temp license. The wired version of the keypad can be done at home with Forscan, I believe. But, not the wireless one. So, this might be the problem like JoeT mentioned. Here is something Ranger-related describing the process:
Here is something else that could be the problem...For my wife's Ranger, there were 2 part numbers for the wireless keypads: one if the vehicle had factory remote start/pushbutton start and different part number if it did not have remote start. I believe the two systems operate on different frequencies. So, maybe this also applies to Super Duty trucks and you've got the wrong one?
That's all I got.

The dealer that sold them to my company claimed they were a 10 minute install on our specific vehicles after watching a youtube video on the Ford Youtube channel so finding out it may not be possible at all is pretty frustrating. We only operate these Fords under warranty because we have been having extremely bad luck with the new ones we are buying so we havent bothered investing in scanners of other equipment to do our own MRO on em. I am really not wanting to give them any more money than we already have for the myriad of issues we have been having with what should be brand new trucks. Pretty sure we are gonna have to lemon law our brand new 2022 F550, but thats a whole other can of worms ha
