I have a dentside bed I bought probably over ten years ago and I am considering selling it since I don't know that I will ever use it. I am just wondering what the value of it might be I know that condition plays the biggest factor so I'm just trying to get a rough idea.
I guess $500-$800 w/tailgate? Could be more in person, once you get up under the fenderwells and look deep. Is that thick primer or a sign of bondo on the dvrs side bed upper corner dent? Duel tanks for a 73-76 pretty good shape overall. Heck now days might be worth $1000.
As far as bondo or not I'm not really sure, I bought it and never really did anything with it. I will try and look more into it when I get time. Like I said I'm just kind of getting a rough idea because I don't know that I will ever do anything with it and I hate to see it just sit there being unused. I will try to look under the fenders a little better and maybe said them a little on the outside to see if its primer or bondo.
Thanks.
To the right guy is could be worth more, good luck with the sale. You can always take a magnet and see if it sticks on the common rust and repair areas, like the fenderwell lip. If it is a weak strength attachment, that could mean lots of bondo.
Ok, I don't have it listed anywhere yet and not in a huge hurry to sell it. Just thinking about selling some things so I have less to try to keep up with and somebody could get some use out of some stuff. If you talk to him anytime soon and he is still looking just have him get a hold of me or dad.
I didn't know that he was working on his old truck, has he said how its going? Would be really cool to see it again. I remember riding in it when I was pretty young with him and dad for some reason there around his house. probably around the early 90s. I would give him a good deal on it if it helped him get his back together.
He keeps telling me he wants me to help him wire in the Duraspark ignition and get rid of the points distributor. But he never says when to come. He is still working 3 days a week at the underground. I'll tell him to go out to your dads and look at it.
I believe I happily paid $500 for a dented '77 longbed box with racetrac trim way back in 1997, after placing a wanted ad in the local trader paper.
None of the local walk-in wrecking yards had any, and I was happy to smooth a few dents.
That bed from 10-feet and below looks solid and a nice straight floor.
Chose a price you and the buyer will be happy with.
I see complete 4x4 pickups listed for $1,000 on occasion, and I'm in a pretty arid area with mostly surface rust.
Oh, too, hahaha
At the time I was searching for a longbed box with the race-trac trim, I already had 3-pickups from which I was sourcing pieces, and didn't need nor hadn't found a complete bed-donor pickup. Even back then ( felt very lucky to find the bed which found me.
It came from a roll-over donor, so I had some panel pulling for good cardio. hahaha
Currently i am getting my hands wet (and greasy) on a learning curve tickling a '66 FE engine with '64 heads and 2100 2-bbl carb.
I've never before worked on an FE engine. It has points ignition. So I've been doing some internet forum reading up on FE stuff. Heavy metal.
