2015 F-250 Cranks but won’t start. Shows code P0024
So, I purchased my 2015 XL back in 2018. It had 105,000 miles when I purchased it. It was obviously a fleet truck. The used car dealership I acquired it from had purchased it from a local auto auction (I live in North Central West Virginia). I love my truck, and it has been a good vehicle overall. Unfortunately, about 6 months ago I began having an issue with a rough idle, power loss, and decreased fuel mileage. Ultimately, I was able to pinpoint the issue as being a broken valve spring on the exhaust side of the second cylinder from the front of the engine on the driver side. After much more effort than I expected, I was able to acquire a new valve spring and corresponding parts from my local ford dealership. Everything seemed to be back in order after I completed the repair, until about 2 months ago when the dreaded “check engine” light came on. My truck is presently at about 133,000 miles driven on it. When I ran a scan with my ODBII scan tool, the code came back as P0024. I was unfamiliar with this particular code and have not been able to find much online about how to go about fixing the issue.
Sadly, last Saturday as I was sitting at a stop light, the truck died. Since then, it will crank but not fire. I replaced both cam shaft position sensors. And due to an older code I had meant to deal with but hadn’t, I also replaced the EVAP system purge control valve “A circuit”. I am at a loss for solutions, and I am extremely fearful that choosing to continue driving the vehicle after the code popped up has caused irreparable damage to my engine. God I hope not. But I don’t know enough about this particular issue to be able to say. If any of y’all have experience dealing with this same issue, or have any advice to offer, I’m all ears. Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing your responses.
Sincerely,
Xavier.
