Anybody have a knowledgeable recommendation based on experience or a reliable third party with PB experience?
Thanks.
“Installation Note:
This unit comes equipped with a smaller alternator pulley, and we recommend using a ½ inch shorter drive belt for proper belt tension.”
I’ve read, somewhere, on this forum that going to a smaller pulley is not a good thing.
Is this true/not true?
If true, can I just switch pulleys?
Thanks again.

they also built a quality set of cables that you will need to go with s high output alternator.

i purchased their 220 amp Velocity alternator from them approximately 8 months ago It was a direct replacement for mine which was getting a little tired after 18 years. It’s 100% new and American made. No problem with the pulley, it was the same size and it took me all of 10 minutes to install. Shipping was fast, I ordered mine directly from the company not Amazon, had to pay shipping but no sales tax so I save a little . If you can’t see my signature, I have an 03 6.8 Ex.

The price for a 240 amp/190 cold, is $525.00. Ouch!
Anybody have experience with the USA Diesel?
Thanks.
Post edit: Looking at the pictures on RockAuto (so they may, or may not be accurate), it looks like the gas and diesel excursion use a different alternator mounting.. The guts might be interchangeable, but you'll need the gas alternator front case.
GAS Excursion alternator. (Four bolt holes)
Diesel Excursion alternator (three bolt holes in a different configuration)

Looking on various sites, there appears that there are more options available for the diesels than us gassers. The most informative site I’ve come across is Idleproextreme.com. There I found a model for the 6.8, 2002 through 2005, but nothing for 2000 - 2002. I’ve got an email to them about this. We’ll see what happens.

Edit, he is showing one for 6.8L after clicking on the product.

Good luck with your decision and keep us updated.
Bruce, the guy I was chatting with, suggested a Romaine Electric ROM11434hp. He is getting the details later today. I Googled the part number and came up with nothing.
Anybody deal with Tucson Alternators? They come with a 2 year warranty. The particular one I was looking at had SKF bearings and other stuff the LN has with idle amps at 190 cold and 180 hot.
They install a smaller pulley so I have to find a belt 1/2” shorter for it to fit.
Their website is very specific about what vehicles they support and seeing “2000 Ford Excursion 6.8 liter” on their website was assuring, so I called and verified. These guys do their due diligence and require a driver’s license photo be sent to them so their “shrinkage” is less and can pass on the savings to us, consumers.
I think this deal is going to work out.
