Mine had no warning. The brakes were working, but it felt like there was too much gain. Once i tried to adjust it, I had no trailer assist. Fortunately Im not too far from home, and there are no hills to descend from where I am. I have an appoint for the update on Tuesday the 10th.
Mine is at the dealer today to perform the recall / reprogramming. I will give an update once it is done and I have the opportunity to tow my 5er.
I should note that when I returned from my recent trip, the trailer brakes were operating, although there was too much gain, so I did not attempt to adjust the gain.
Thanks for the posts. I hope my F-350 has this sorted out, it's built and scheduled to arrive at my dealer in mid-May. I have an Airstream to pick up!
I think you will be OK. From what I remember Ford started putting the updated trailer controller software on production vehicles starting in mid February.
Anyone had the recall done for the brake controller and what were the results.
I had the update performed but since my trailer brakes didn't fail before the update, and so far hasn't failed after, then there is really nothing to report. I guess if they never fail in the future, then the firmware update would be a success.
I just went on my first camping trip with my new 2023 F350, the truck detected the trailer, ran all of the light tests, etc but when setting the gain on the brake controller or manually squeezing it I get a “trailer not connected” warning. Manually squeezing does operate the trailer brake lights but I can’t tell if it is fully operating the trailer brakes or if the gain is doing anything.
