Hearing a knocking in my 400 while driving at a neutralthrottle setting. tryning to pin it down and was wondering if anyone could describe what a bent pushrod sounds like. my noise is gone at idle and seems to go away at anything but a neutral throttle.
if i had to describe the noise i would say it reminds me of those old kids toys with two hard plastic ***** at the end of strings that would clack together (think they were called clackers). kind of sounds like that only a little muffled and will vary slightly in intensity.
Typically a bent push rod should make the souns most of the time regardlass of the throttle position or load on an engine. Somehitng like that souns more like a lifter rocker arm may need to be retourqed. Remove your valve covers and go through all the rocker arm bolts loosening them and then re-tourqing them to specs. then check out to see if the sound is still there. If it is, then you can still go through the same route and replace the rods as needed or all of them since you have it open anyway. Just be careful of debri getting in when you have the covers off.
Hope this helps.
