But it is a 2021?

There are so many different experiences perceived to be associated with AS. Ranging from not noticing any difference at all with or without it, to others saying it causes so much steering effort that it is almost unbearable to drive and being adamant of that being normal for AS.....while yet others experiencing it just as Ford describes it, without any unwanted side effects. Since 2020MY Ford has added yet another layer of assist into some of the Super Duty's, electronic power steering assist, that unlike AS, actually does vary the amount of steering effort under certain conditions. That is something(not entirely the same)that the F-150 had for years before the SD.

had it on my 19 not on my 22 doesnt feel any different to me. as for installing it, I have looked at the schematics, you will have to get a wheel from a 22, the connectors appeared to have changed.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I think you are probably right, the cost of adding it after the fact would be too prohibitive. Perhaps in two or three years I'll do a trade-in and get a few more options that I wanted once the supply chain issues settle down a bit. I'm getting familiar with the F-350's steering with time so perhaps in a month or two I'll be use to it.

I want to know how to disable mine so I can install the raptor steering wheel. I don’t notice a difference.

I think you might be out of luck with that one. I have seen the question posted several times, going back a few years, but have yet to see anyone find a way to properly disable it.

Not noticing a difference is a good thing. The only real difference I would expect most people to notice is reduced rotation of the steering wheel at low speeds. If someone doesn't regularly drive one without AS they might not even notice that.

I would agree with others that adding adaptive steering is likely more complicated than it looks. Have you driven a truck with it to evaluate the difference?

The biggest and most noticeable difference to me is in parking lots, maneuvering a trailer, and right hand turns. I went straight from a 350 CC DRW without adaptive to this 450 with it. I greatly prefer the adaptive. Far less spinning the wheel and hand over hand stuff in low speed maneuvers. Making right hand turns in the 350 required two full revolutions of the wheel, which you have to do very quickly or you find yourself in oncoming traffic. My 450 does it in just under one.

I have a close friend who runs a very large diesel repair business. He has told me folks with adaptive steering often incorrectly attribute problems like hard steering, wandering, pulling, etc. to adaptive steering. Other than fewer revolutions at low speed, the steering of my 450 feels no different than my 350, and I'm the type that would definitely notice.

Its a nice feature, have had with and without on these. You can completely live without it though.

I would look at tires and alignment adjustments first.
