No more adaptive steering

The Platinum package no longer includes adaptive steering. If your doing a factory order my recommendation, after going from a 2017 Platinum with adaptive steering to a ‘21 without it, is don’t get it. I like the concept of adaptive steering but I honestly don’t miss it in the slightest. I certainly don’t think it’s worth what they charge for it. Anyone else think it’s of any value?

I have never driven one with adaptive steering. What does it do?

I had it on my 2017 king ranch. Didn't notice any difference at all. I also have it on my 2021 now. I really like it. Makes me think something was wrong with the 2017. I actually went back thru the 2017 order several times making sure I had it on the truck because I didn't notice any big difference

I drove one with and one without. Elected not to get it. Parking was a bit easier, but going straight the adaptive truck seems confused about where wheel center was (which I had read here as well and confirmed personally). That said some people love it.

I have it on my 20’ Limited. I didn’t know what to expect...and will be adding it to any future vehicle. Love it..
It’s very noticeable to me because I’m constantly between two different trucks.
It literally makes the truck feel like a compact car WB at low MPH. Just a slight turn on the wheel to turn a corner.

The electric assist on 20-21 trucks seems to give the benefit of easy steering that you get with adaptive steering without ratio adjustments. My 2021 steering without adaptive steering is soooo much better than my 2019 was. I have test driven trucks with adaptive steering and considered it a benefit on 17-19 models but chose not to add it to my 21 order.

Interesting, so it makes a big difference on the 17-19 trucks but not as much on 20-21 trucks?...Like I said above I drove one with and one without, both 2021, back to back and decided it wasn't a big enough difference to matter for me.

That is the way the trucks I drove felt to me, but that is my opinion and I have never owned one with adaptive steering so based on short test drives.

My experience is the opposite. Unnoticeable on my 17, but back to back drives in a 21 with and without, it’s a huge difference. Super at low speed, and firmer steering at higher speeds.

The big difference is the electric assist in the 20+ trucks. That is far more beneficial and noticeable than the adaptive steering. You can compare a 19 & 20 and the 20 even without adaptive steering is lighter and more responsive.

Good to hear it’s not standard I think it’s a joke after having had 2 with and 2 without.

Yup, they made that change on the Platinum for the 2021 model year. After driving a truck with it and another without it I definitely preferred the feel of the truck without it. Yes it makes low speed maneuvering easier, but that was the only benefit IMO. Forced adaptive steering and forced power running boards (cab length only) are why I ordered a Lariat Ultimate instead of a Platinum.

I would not buy one without it. I can tell the difference immediately.
