abs light

I have a 1998 ranger 2wd with rear abd my light comes on once in a while. I replaced the rear brakes and hardware, any advice what to check next would be appreciated

I had this problem once, usually occuring after hitting the brakes hard. It went away after I totally flushed out the brake system with new fluid.

Welcome to FTE mike2002. The ABS sensor is on the top of the differential "pumpkin". Check that it is not oil-soaked and otherwise dry inside. Follow the lead back to the chassis to make sure that it hasn't been rubbing anywhere causing it to ground out. Make sure that the rear brake adjusters are working properly and not allowing the rears to be too far out of adjustment.
