Rag Joint/Coupler problems
I have a 75 2wd 460 F150. I just rebuilt my steering column thanks with the help of y'all on here, I have another silly question. I bought a nice rag joint/coupler off bronco graveyard and there is another bracket that was not on my original coupler. I am using common sense to how it should fit but if anyone can send me a pic of how theirs went on I would appreciate it. I can't seem to fit the bolts through the bracket and the raj joint so I don't know how I will get it on...
What does the bracket do?
This is how I assume the bracket fits...
As far as the u joint upgrade folks say "There's absolutely no reason to replace the rag joint with a universal. The rag joint will absorb vibration and will accommodate changes in distance between the steering column and steering box which happen with bumps and flex as the frame and cab are separated by rubber body mount bushings. The rag joint does all this while costing absolute ZERO in lost steering motion .... and it's easy to service and they last so long."
Jegs shows this way.
