Wanted to try to do some anti-rust upkeep on the bed supports that are really starting to deteriorate. I have used fluid film the last several years, but wanted to wire brush down it al and use either fluid film or a Rustoleu
m rust converter...or something even better? Suggestions?
If you're not worried about cosmetics and they aren't too far gone, just drown it all in Fluid Film. Once you apply that, you cannot use anything like a paint or rust converter. But, anything buried under a layer of grease will not rust.
You can also slather on axle grease with a gloved hand (on the accessible parts). You will still have to spray oil or grease inside the cavities.
There is fluid film on it already, but didn't think with the flacking rust that it penetrated enough. That was the reason to wire brush/wheel to clean it up and apply something that will keep it a little while longer.
Sounds like since I already applied FF, that cleaning it up then giving it another coating of film will be the best bet.
