Sync 4 wireless carplay

‘22 with the 12” screen. It used to connect wirelessly to CarPlay with my iPhone. But then I started using the onboard modem/wifi, which you can’t run it and wireless CarPlay together. I then tried going back to wireless CarPlay and it keeps saying unable to connect.
I’ve tried turning off the onboard modem, disconnected from the onboard wifi but leave wifi on, check to ensure Bluetooth is on and connected to the truck itself, and ensured “CarPlay on” is checked under the Bluetooth setting.
It connects fine to the truck Bluetooth but not CarPlay.
it will connect via CarPlay with the cord tho. Thanks in advance

Is the WIFI on your phone "on"? I've run into this as well but finally realized the WIFI on the phone has to be on for it to connect.

Maybe going into both the phone and the radio and forgetting the devices? kind of start from scratch?

I noticed when I first used it that I could not toggle wifi on or off if it was connected to CarPlay wirelessly, which makes me think that is the connectivity being used for CarPlay.

yeah the wifi is on and I had it “forget this network” for the in car modem so it would not auto connect there.
I’ve noticed sometimes when I say to connect to CarPlay it will spin and act like it connected but the “phone” button is still there with the factory Bluetooth connection rather than CarPlay.

The only thing that may be related is I make sure it connects wirelessly before plugging it in, otherwise it wants to connect through the wire.

Wireless carplay uses a wifi connection to connect to Sync 4, therefore you cannot be on another wireless network and wireless carplay at the same time.
