I bought the system Ford enhanced bundle about a year and a half ago. With help from here I got it up and running with some recurring hiccups. i e when connecting I usually have to unhook the cord, close and restart the program a time or two before it will connect. Other than that it seemed to work.
Tried using it now and it took several unhook/rehook, close and restart program cycles to get it to connect. Then after a couple of minutes all selections got lost and it sat there with all zeros on the selected boxes. Close down, restart and try again. Head down the road for a road run and not long before it lost all settings and back to zeros. Start again finish run, stop recording. Try to read recorded run and get a 'corrupt file' message.
Ive had some issues with AE as well. From my experience, and reading, it has to do with when windows does an update. Which it does a lot. Every time windows updates, I get your symptoms and some times it won't connect at all. The cure is to uninstall AE, and re install. PITA, but it works. Some times just re installing the ford bundle works saving a total re install. Never found out why it happens.
Thanks for the input. I have to ask myself why I didn't try the uninstall/install routine already. I use Google Chrome on my iPad and it needs to be done to that about three times a year. Will give it a try.
I'm new to AE but not new to computers. My experience with computers is almost 30 years now :-)
Working with AE the last few days I had similar issues although a message I was getting was cannot create new session. In my case I change USB ports (perhaps the destination port was the port I installed it on I don't recall) and I did also have a flash drive in another USB port. Moving the USB cable, removing the flash drive and following the correct "connect before you launch" sequence did the trick for me. Oh! and also I've seen recent issues with USB ports on laptops not quite having a good connection. I use usb powered/video monitors on my laptop so I can have 3 screens and if I even touch the cords it goes haywire. Had the problem with two totally different laptops too. Just some thoughts.
Wow. Never knew they had updates either. I just sent in for mine. Its the first one I've ever done. I still have version 7.2.3 in there. LOL. They have to send a new activation code too. But you have to request it.

Pretty sure they are gonna charge you!
I had an older version (still around here somewhere) that is serial, but I moved away from that laptop and the PCCard was a PIA and only a handful did a proper job anyways...
IIRC, later versions of Giotto *require* the new connector that has the security chip inbuilt, so you'll likely expect to purchase a new adapter, too.
The new version said it fixed some issues what ever they were. I havn't heard back, there closed, but it said with the connector I have I don't need the security thing. But will need a new code to activate it. I applied for both and the reply email said they would contact me if there are issues. Issues being I gave them the wrong number off the connector. It then said I'm good to go unless my subscription expired. Then I would need to buy a new subscription. I was positive when I bought it, it said it was a life time subscription. But I have no way of knowing if its expired until they email me if it is. What do you mean by PC Card? I don't have that. I just plug the connector into the truck then plug into the usb on my lap top. No card is needed. Everything is in the big connector at the truck end.
You might be better of with an older version of AE, as opposed to Giotto. Giotto handles all the new vehicles and Windows 8 (and maybe 10). I have a carputer with Windows 7, and it's going to stay that way. AE 10 is stable, has all the correct default scaling, I can save my sessions (settings for the truck and gauges), and I don't want to pay to make it not work right. Nothing has changed on our trucks since version 7.x, so the only reason to upgrade is to fix a malfunctioning feature in your version, or to hook up to a vehicle made after your version came out.
Good to know that. So it seems to work fine with windows 10. I took the free upgrade so I could use the touch screen. So are you saying its going to have issues with 10, or will it be ok. I'd rather not upgrade if I don't need too. They havn't contacted me yet, but I don't think I have a subscription since I bought a bundle. I havn't a clue, but figure from what others said, theyre gonna want more moola.
I have no idea how anything is going to react to Windows 10, so it's enter at your own peril. They'll have to yank Windows 7 out my cold dead hands - but I'll gladly hand over Windows 8 for a try at 10.
