E350 4x4 Conversion - help with Transfer Case
I’ve been working on my 2008 E350 conversion for a few weeks now. Transmission was rebuilt and converted to 4x4 (output shaft switched to short version - 31 spline), I couldn’t source an NV271 locally, so I got a BW1356 out of an F150 (don’t know the year, but probably around 95-96).
T-case has been mounted, and van is back on the road, but I have a few problems I’m trying to solve and need a bit of help:
1. The 4x4 indicator switch that goes into the T-case, I have a 2-pin switch, when I wire it outside the transfer case, it works like a normal switch, where pressing the ball/switch closes the circuit between the 2-pins and the indicator light I wired lights up. When on the T-case, if I switch to 4Hi or 4Lo, the fuse I put in between the indicator light and 12V blows. I have not found out why this is happening, but thinking maybe the switch is grounded and the two leads are one for 4Lo and one for 4Hi, can anyone confirm?
2. I cannot find the AODE detent plate for the BW1356 shifter, I’m thinking of fabricating one, but the shifter will be at an odd position and will require me to bend the shift rod quite a bit to get it in a good position, is this recommended?
Thanks for any help, would be greatly appreciated.
