dashboard 4x4 switch
My 2001 f-250 transfer case switch is acting up. It works fine when it is warmer outside (40 degrees), but when its colder out it will not go into 4 high or 4 low. Ford dealer says the swich is bad ( $725.00). but it does not make sense that it works most of the time. Has anybody else had a switch go out or is there something else to look at?

I'd try a different dealer. You can buy a transfer case for about $725, I would expect the switch to be more like $7.25.
Maybe one of the online parts places will have it for cheap, it it turns out to be the switch. fordparts.com is one of many.
