Correct; but if someone can’t count the bolts and tell if there is a fill plug in the cover, knowing all the codes might be above their pay grade. LOL

I was trying to look this up the other day, including the Ford towing guide. Most of the tables I came across just correlated the axle code to the ratio and LSD/e-locker, but not if it was a Sterling or Dana.

I dont fault the shop for not knowing what axle your truck has considering how foggy the awnser still is here.

I operate a shop and in a case like yours where you are far away i would say to send a picture of the axle to verify. I too wouldnt try to guess if there was a chance i was wrong.
