I have a 2019 F250 and need to put some new tires on it. Currently have Nitto Grappler G2 on it and I really like them. Could have been a little better on road noise, but I know its a big truck with A/T tires so that's asking a lot. I called my tire guy and he also suggested the Cooper Rugged Trek, Nokian Outpost A/T, and Toyo Open Country. Any opinions from others? I don't know a lot about tires so just looking for some feedback.
I use the worlds most boring tires. Since I don't offroad and wanted something great for onroad and rain and a lot of people who tow recommend them, I use michelin defenders. Not bad in snow either. So i'm happy with them. Quiet, fantastic on road, towing and in rain just as they're advertised. Just kind of ugly but I wanted function over form.
I really like Cooper tires, I'm on my second set of AT3s, and I've been happy with them. My son runs Coop Stt Pros on his Jeep and they have been great. The Rugged Trek is a new tire for them. It looks good. It is looks more aggressive than the AT3, and less than the STTs.
Cooper was bought by Goodyear about a year ago, so I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing.
Toyos I believe are a good A/T tire with decent road manners and, out of those 3, likely the one I'd choose. I don't like that the Nokians don't have the full tread depth at the shoulder, I've found tires with that type of tread pattern to not shed water as well as I'd like once they get some wear. I won't buy Coopers again, I've had too many issues with them in the past from balancing issues to premature carcass failures. Personally, I'm running the Michelin AT2. Definitely about the least aggressive tire still classified as an all terrain, but they have been working for me so far.
I have a set of Cooper Rugged Trek on 2019 F 250. The tire rides well on the truck, but my biggest problem is the tires pick up gravel that flies off when you hit paved roads. Sound is annoying and worry about dings on the truck.
I think I’m gonna stick with the grapplers. They are the most expensive option but seems a couple of you haven’t had the best luck with Cooper. And I just can’t get behind an off brand tire. Also wanting the aggressive look.
Nitto Recon Grapplers for me. 325-65R-18LT 10Ply Rated. (Made in USA.) This is the quietest tire and takes very few weights to ballance. I had Yokohoma XT2 that had a little whine. (Made in Japan.) My Jeep has Nitto Ridge Grapplers that are also quiet. 38-13.50R-20 LT 10Ply Rated. (2 USA, 3 Japan) Currently at 20,000 miles in picture. My truck would eat Coopers up. They cupped bad even with scheduled rotation. I am running Falken Wildpeaks now, very good traction, quiet, and no cupping.
I am running Toyo Open Country AT3 on my 2019 F350.
(stock size on the factory 20 inch wheels)
These are great tires, they perform excellent in all conditions including pavement, mud and snow.
If you got a Discount Tire near you, check out the Goodyear Ultra terrain. I have them on 3 trucks now and love them.
I usually dislike Goodyear tires.
