My personal experience with truck tires in the last 5 years. Cooper AT3s would not wear properly and would cup badly, no matter how much you rotate them. Even though they are rated for 55k miles, I changed them with 30k because the cupping was so bad. The Goodyear's that came factory on my truck ('19 F250) started chunking/falling apart after three days of farm use on dirt road. Swapped those after 9k miles, just wasn't happy with that. I settled for the best A/T tire since 1977, the BF Goodrich KO2. This tire is hands down the best all-around tire I have ever ran on a truck. The tread pattern grips very well in all conditions and they can handle towing just as good. Personally, I don't think I am going with any other tire as long as these are still being made. Also, Made in America.
I think I’m gonna stick with the grapplers. They are the most expensive option but seems a couple of you haven’t had the best luck with Cooper. And I just can’t get behind an off brand tire. Also wanting the aggressive look.
They now have the Nitto Recons which I have getting installed this week. Supposedly a little better on road noise
my recon grapplers are definitly WAYYYY better then the ridge grapplers I ran a few years ago.
I went stock, to ridge grapplers (34 on stock 18's), to cooper at3 XLT (35 on 17's), to now the recon grapplers (35 on 17's). The coopers were quieter but had less of a rating then the recon grapplers. But the recon grapplers ride silky smooth with a touch of humming.
I have a 19 F-250 , it’s got 21,000 on it . I’ve been looking at tires for a little while now ( don’t need them just looking ) my past experiences with BFG KO2’s ( this was when the KO2’ s first came out ) are that they’re fantastic but they are hard to keep balanced and they cupped if not rotated every 5,000 miles .
Has this changed for the better with the current Superduty trucks ?
Does the KO2’s out today balance well ?
I’m also looking at Nitto’s and Cooper at3’s , Toyo’s and Falken Wildpeak.
I was just wanting some feedback on tires , thanks in advance.
I have the Ridge Grapplers on my 2019 F250 and have been pleased with them. Sound is better imo than my Toyo's or KO's. Looks like the Nitto website shows the Ridge Grapplers give you a little more wet tire performance at the expense of ride comfort. I guess the wider lugs would channel the water better away from the tire. So the Recon tires with the slimmer lug pattern would ride a litte better but have slightly worse wet weather performance. Not much difference but I would think the wider lugs on the Ridge would also have slightly better off road and clean out performance but it does not show that.
Checked out the specs on the Nokian Outpost A/T in a 20 inch size. I do like the 3845 lbs. max weight rating. I'll have to research those when it's time for new tires.
I went down this rabbit hole a while ago. Of the options I’d go with the open country at3. Seems to be the best all around for a truck that is driven on road 90% of the time.
