1. Come on when the factory reverse lights comes on.
2. Come on with an outfitter switch
I have the 7 way trailer plug that is computerized.
I think I can do this with a 5 way relay. But am I correct?
I would need to jumper 2 pins on the trailer control module harness underneath the driver side dash, the orange wire in pin three on the one connector and the red wire on pin 1 on the second connector.
Then connect the lights to 30/51 on the relay.
The power wire on the 7 pin to 87
Wire connected to the upfitter switch to 86
The reverse light positive wire to 87A
The ground to 85
I don't know about using upfitters as I don't have them. Easy way is to use a single pole, double throw switch. You might be able to use the upfitter in line with a SPDT switch and then use a standard relay.
Thank you. So I'm on the right track. I guess I could use the upfitter lead to trigger and also 87.
With the wiring diagram I gave you, my bumper lights come on when I shift my truck in reverse, and go off
when I shift out of reverse. When I flip the upfitter switch to the on position, my bumper lights come on. If the upfitter switch is in the on position, and the truck is in reverse, my bumper lights come on. The only change I made is I moved from upfitter 1 to upfitter 6 so I the lights will come on now with my truck key in the off position.
