Hi folks,
I am new to this site.
I have a 1966 F100. The VIN plate is F10AN802005 which I believe indicates a 240 cid In-line 6-cylinder motor. The previous owner insisted that the truck had a 300 cid in-line 6. The stamping on the motor block is 05AE-6015-F and 5D20 -- does this engine code identify the motor size?
802005 is early January 1966. The 5D20 is April 20th, 1965. Engine date code is likely too old to be the one that came in the truck. The C5AE-6015-F is common between the 240 and 300 so that won't help. But, measure the stoke through a spark plug hole using a dowel marked at top dead center and bottom dead center. 240 is 3.18 and 300 is 3.98. Should be easy to tell which it is.
