My truck is definitely in that timeframe but no notification in Ford Pass or on the NHTSA site. I'll call the dealer tomorrow and ask them. I even searched the Ford Recall site with my VIN and nothing.

Often times a manufacturer will make a slight change in the firmware trying to make a small improvement, but sometimes causes greater problems and bugs by doing so. A possible scenario is that Ford made that change in the December/January/February time frame so it would not have affected your F450 picked up in September, and hence, no recall. Another possibility is that Ford changed their supplier of the Trailer Brake module and found out their current firmware was not fully compatible. Those of us who received our trucks at a later date got stuck with the buggy software or modules. However, it won't hurt to call Ford or your dealer to confirm this, that's for sure.

Just curious where you are getting these dates. They don’t match the recall info I’ve seen, which states that the defective/recalled software was introduced into production December 2, 2020 and removed February 15, 2022. It also stated that software re-flashes began at KTP on February 14, 2022. So I would imagine if you have a truck that was manufactured after February 14, 2022 you are good, but anything before is likely a recall, all the way back to December 2020.

I just spoke with the service department at my dealer and they said they did not have any open recalls for my 450. He was familiar with this update but said it must not apply to my truck or it would have shown up. Again mine is a '22 built in September 2022 and picked up that same month.

The model year affected doesn't make any sense. If the bad software was introduced 12/02/2020 then doesn't that mean the 2021 model year trucks would have the bad software? So far, it's only been 2022 trucks that are seeing this issue, right?

Sounds like a screwed up mess to me.

I am waiting!
I had it done to my '22 F450 two weeks ago. While it may have been retracted, my trailer brakes haven't failed since, so I'm happy with that. I went on routes that they'd have normally failed a couple times by now.

When was your truck built? I have not experienced any issues with my brakes and I have towed quite a bit. What types of routes made them fail?

That could explain why it didn't seem like the trailer brakes were working on my enclosed trailer on a recent 1250 mile each way trip from the NY/Canada border to Florida.
Nothing in the FordPass message center except some BS offer from Sirius or Pandora. Also no email or regular mail notices.

Ummmm, I said December/January/February timeframe which what was stated on the recall. I didn't give exact dates, but it was for the most part correct.

Ok. The recall must state different times than the NHTSA then, which is what I shared above. The NHTSA lists a lot longer time frame than those 3 months.

My truck was built in November 2021.

My typical trip to the desert is about 150 miles each way, and I previously lost my brakes almost every time on the way there and/or on the way back. After a while, I came to expect a failure, so I checked them often. I often noticed the failure right after sitting in traffic (Southern California), but I'd also just lose them on flat highway (though they could have gone away before that). A couple times, I noticed that they were gone when I had to do panic stops because someone would suddenly cut in front of me, but again, I don't know if I lost them during that stop or before that.

I lost my brakes probably about 10-12 times over a couple months - and under 1,800 miles of towing.

Man that's crazy and definitely nerve racking! Hopefully this fix works for everyone. Im still curious why mine isn't affected but so far I haven't had any issues.

Lost my trailer brakes last week, luckily I was unloaded. Never had a disconnect message on the dash and when I applied the brakes manually it showed on the dash. I didn't think it was the controller and I checked the wiring and plug on the trailer. Next morning I had brakes. I talked to the shop manager yesterday and they are going to flash the computer next week when I take it in for an oil change. Truck has performed flawlessly otherwise.

Mine was supposedly updated last time it was at the dealer - last week. However, I'm not able to figure out how to confirm that. Fords half-assed web presence and app functions either say it's still a problem or "We are not able to retrieve recall information for the VIN you have entered". [face palm] But you know where the truck is parked, how many miles to empty, etc.
