2004 Lincoln Navigator Replace Engine Mounts
I have heard that some of the Navigators and possibly Expeditions as well used oil/fluid filled mounts. My 1994 Forfd T-Bird SC has them and I replaced them once and it needs them again, but are NLA. I think all aftermarket ones are solid rubber.
I would be doing this in my driveway using ramps and/or jack stands with floor and or transmission jacks. I do have an engine hoist in storage, but I would hope I don’t have to go to that extreme. I have seen mention of possibly having to remove upper engine components (e.g. EGR valve, throttle body) for clearance to raise the engine off the mounts once loose and to clear the firewall. I also read that removing the oil dipstick tube on the driver’s side and the starter on the passenger side was required. I also read or saw a video indicating that either loosening the transmission from its crossmember mount or the crossmember mount from the frame was required or helpful.
one other person also indicated that the aftermarket mount they received for one side (driver’s I think) fit properly, but the other one was ordered multiple times and finally had to have one edge ground down to obtain clearance to fit properly.
Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated. I am planning a trip week after next and would like to get this completed prior to thst, however it is our only running vehicle at the moment and I can’t have it down for long at a time.
Ted
