85 e150 /w 302(carb)-AOD-........as i was installing a new oil pump, thought i would go ahead and do the mounts too..purchased a set from autozone......got everything back togethr w/no problem until i tried to put the oil filter on(cheap FRAM from autoz)...it was hitting the m. mount corner...half inch to go before the filterr will line up to screw in oil hole!!...any thoughts??
Are you sure you put the right on on the right side, and the left on on the left side? I think they are different in the vans. Also NEVER use fram oil filter, they will ruin your engine...
yes i compared them...w/o measuring them they looked the same..anyway i grinded a quarter inch of the mounts ..works! so far so good...also switched filters (usually dont by fram but xmas is here so its been kinda tight)....thanks for the reply PFOGLE..ACESN8S...NOW TO see if im getting oil p.s.i.....cya
SLant, remove the dist, put a piece of 1/4 or 5/16 hex stock in a drill, and turn the pump. That way you won't spin a bearing and have to replace the entire engine if it doens't have pressure.
thanks PFOGLE.....but i beat ya to it....already done it........van is outside warming up as i type this........all seems ok so far..no drips ...psi ok.....double checking everythingf before a late night drive.........again thanks for your input!!!
Just curious Pfogle, what's your opinion of Fram based on and what do you recommend instead? I've been using them for 14 years, on four different vehicles including my E150, and I've not blown a motor yet. One went over 200,000, one is about to hit 200,000, and the other two hit the 150,000 mile mark. I've been told that there is not a lot of difference between the various filters out there.
