Tint Recommendations

Hello All. With my truck finally in transit I am starting to plan for the initial add ons. I am going to be doing PPF and ceramic coating immediately, but I was hoping for some tint recommendations.

current truck I’m selling has 3M crystalline tint. It performs awesome but I don’t like the gold/brown color it looks like from the outside.

The installer for the PPF and ceramic offers Johnson window films and had their ceramic line. This tint seems to have much lower specs than the others. Am I worrying too much about specs and it is nominal?

other local shops carry Huber optik, llumar, and the other ceramic line of 3M. Anyone have some good recommendations?

Just did a llamar IRX ceramic on all windows with air80 on windshield and panoramic roof. Installer was fantastic and price was great. Key is finding a good installer.

Llumar IRX has a carbon look to me which isn’t brown at all.

I’d search llumar site and look for an installer there and then call and visit until you find one you like.

Tough to go wrong with Huber optik, llumar ceramic, or the other ceramic line of 3M. I only have experience with the llumar ceramic (I think it's CTX) on my SD. To me it has a greenish look on the front door glass. It might not be the film, but a result of the glass Ford uses up front. The darker you go the less noticeable that may be.

I have heard great things about the 3m ceramic, but it seems you already have it and dont like it. I thought their Crystaline series is their ceramic.

I have ALSO heard great things about the Huper Optik stuff, but no first hand experience. I will say all the great reviews I read on it were years ago and nothing to current. To me that says a lot of companies have passed them up in the technology aspect... I dont know.

Ive got a good amount of experience with the Wincos ceramic tint that blocks 98% of IR... I'm a believer... BUT the place I use went to XPel about 18 months ago because they said Wincos really dropped their level of support.

We have one car with XPel mid grade ceramic and it seems to be doing well... no real complaints. Im going to do the high end Xpel ceramic on the F350 if it ever shows up.

All though it’s more expensive, I’ve been very happy with Huper Optik.
