Anyone have this stuff installed? I want to get some good window film and this looks to be the best out there (also darn expensive). Looks like lots of folks actually using the lightest color for the front windshield which I imagine is illegal most everywhere.
I'm looking for heat rejection, protection for the interior and just little tint since nightime towing visibility is more important. Just wondering if anyone has used or heard of it. My search here came up empty.
Some numbers from the 3M site....
68% Visible Light Transmitted
50% Total Solar Energy Rejected
97% Infrared Rejected
38% Solar Heat Reduction
99.9% UV Rejected
23% Glare Reduction

Hmm.... The sun hardly shines in through the back window, the two rear side doors already have a fairly deep tint, and you can't legally put it on the front windshield which is where most of the light comes in, the picture that you showed looks pretty much stock. My '99 black truck has never seen the inside of a garage and there is no visible damage to the interior or dash from UV or heating.
I'm pretty sure the rear windows are actually smoked glass on our trucks, but you can tint the front two for around $100 to reduce interior heat. I also bought a "Heatshield" for the windshield when parked. works great and cost less than $40.
I think you should spend the $150 I spent and be more than happy with the results... like I am
Here in SC the legal limit on window tint is 27%. I had mine done (I do every vehicle because I like it when the front windows match closer to the rears).
It costs me $55 for the local guy to do it, he uses 27% film with UV filter. I don't think it's 3M but for 55$ I don't mind. The rear windows are more like 40% if I had to guess, but it's not tint, it's internal to the glass.
The factory tint on the rear windows is closer to 20%. I usually put a 20% film over them and 35% on the front doors. Our legal limit in MD is 35% but back windows on a truck don't count just the front doors.
here in nc i think legal is 32% but i sure didnt get that i got 5% on the front and 5% over the stock then a 5% strip on the front windshield but the guy that dose all mine charges 150$ to do all mine hard to see out at night but keeps the sun off them black leather seats in the summer
